Hello,
I'm new here but have been lurking for a week or so.I have learned much already.I have owned many f-series over the years but never a diesel. So please forgive in advance any stupid rookie questions.
I just bought a 2000 f-350 s.d. p.s.d.with 130,000 on it.I love it.It does have that cackle that everyone talks of.But I'm just going to ignore it for now.
What I must do now is the front wheel bearing assy.My local carquest gets them for aprox.$320 a piece(timken lifetime warrenty).I see on the net that i can get a set of 2 for aprox.$180 but 1 year warrenty. My question is are these diesels that much harder on the bearings than gassers because of the weight increas.I do about 50,000 miles per year.SHould i expect to burn through those cheap chiwanese bearings to where its just not worth it?Your opinion would be the decideing factor.:thanks :thanks

Welcome to Super Duty Diesel Dryfly. Yes the bearings take more of a beating with the extra weight of the diesel engine. Don't go cheap on something like bearings. Your life and others may depend on it. Timkens are great bearing.
