help! turbocharger removal

my fuel pump is leaking and its under the turbocharger pedastool but i cant remove the turbo. anyone know how? the book isnt helping & ive got everything off except the turbo!

There are 4 bolts holding the pedistal to the manifold and there are 4 bolts on the uppipe collector to the exhaust housing. You'll have to remove the intake tube and unhook the downpipe clamp. There is an electrical connection for the EBPV solenoid as well. Pretty straight forward removal except you have to stand on your head to get to a couple of bolts.

However, you should be able to get the fuel pump out without removing the turbo.

You do NOT have to take off the Turbo unless you have a California truck... I have had my fuel pump out several times and neve have I taken out the turbo...
The banjo bolt is the bugger here, you have to get a big box end wrench, 1-1/8 inch.

i'll try it without turbo removal. it looked like i couldn't get to the banjo bolt with the turbo pedastool attached. my truck was built in canada.

It's a 1-1/4" wrench for the banjo bolt. I've done the pump about three times without removing the turbo. Cheers!

the diesel was leaking from the connection before the banjo bolt. i when to remove the banjo bolt and it gave WAY to easily... so i tightened it up real good and fired it up and the leak stopped. does this sound about right to anyone else or am i going to be gutting it again?

That sounds like a GIFT to me... Just a loose bolt, what a stroke of luck, hope my luck is close to the same tomorrow when I get through with the UVC harness and the PigTails...

Mine is leaking from the same place. I hope it's just a loose bolt, I didn't think of that. Hopefully I won't have to change out the whole pump.

While i was poking around under the engine i noticed the cause of my oil leak as well. the same issue... a loose nut around where the dip stick goes into the pan.

now I've only to figure the cause of the coolant leak. it's a slow drip in the winter but on a hot day it runs to the gutter.

good for you . saved your self about $150 i wasn't so lucky did fuel pump all rubber line and vac switch on the side of the fpr to get all of my fuel leak's
