Well this is strange. It's 8 deg outside and my truck has now developed a no heat situation. (of course). It's wierd. At slow speeds and at idle, (like at a stop light), my heater blows out cold air. When you speed up, the air gets warmer. Anyone have any ideas before I pull stuff off to take it to the dealer????

Thanks in advance, Rachel does not want to ride with me. :cold 3

"Off The Top" ?.. It sounds like a vacuum leak. I'd check the line running from yer vac pump to the collector tank, then the line running from the collector, thru the firewall, to the manifold under yer dash, to left of yer glove box.

You have air moveing but it's not being directed thru the heater core. THAT, has All to do with vacuum, controlleed by the Heat/AC knob.

:dunno

it could be water pump. i have replaced pumps on a couple of gas engines couple of weeks ago that had the same symptoms as yours. since your`s is a diesel i couldn`t see it being a whole lot different, but i am still learning about diesel motors....hope this helps

my vote is NOT vacuum, as the pump runs on 'lec-ticity...

first thing I'd do is change the thermostat. (well, actually, the first thing I'd do is make sure it's full off coolant)We've seen a lot of them with busted bails on Ford products..

THEN look at stuff like partially plugged heater core, possibly bad blend door motors, stuff stuck in the heater box... did you put a new cabin air filter in it yet?

Quoted from the manual;
*Low engine coolant level.
*Engine overheating.
*Plugged or partially plugged heater core.
*Temperature blend door binding/stuck.
*A/C electric blend door actuator.
*Incorrect heater control valve operation.

See ya'll around the 25th or 26th there Barrett :sweet Sent you a PM.

Thanks for all the repy's guys. I did check the vacuum lines and that was fine as far as I could tell. However thanks to you I did find the culprit:

Envelope Please: -popcorn

And the winner is: -popcorn

Low engine coolant level

CHPMustang!

Thanks, I never even thought of that. Duh  I never even thought about looking in the manual. (For some stupid reason). Thanks again, Rachel will now ride with me again. :sweet

Hope to see ya next week sometime. Drive Carefully. I don't want to be toned out on Christmas and find a Excursion on it's roof.

Have a safe and enjoyable trip. :grin

Thanks again for all the help.
