H.I.D. is a bulb that does NOT have
a wire/wound filament.
REAL H.I.D. "bulbs" produce their
light by ARC, the "bulbs" are filled
w/ a colorless gas.
H.I.D. bulbs draw less current (35w)
compared to conventional filament
bulbs...but they require transformers,
balasts and igniters. H.I.D. balasts
typically take conventional 12v and
step it up to at LEAST 16,000v to
produce the arc and ignite the gas.
COLORED bulbs should NOT be
confused w/ REAL H.I.D.
btw H.I.D. is an abreviation that
stands for High Intensity Discharge.
