Hard to start

could a going bad hpop cause the truck hard to start? The only thing that I can think of that is differant, is that I put 10-40 oil in after I put new injector cups in. I have about 500 to 600 mile on since, So I'm sure that all the air is out of the system. Just to think last Nov. I knew nothing about a diesel, now I'm work on it. That is, with talking with a ford tech. He's been helpful.

An HPOP that is not supplying enough pressure from the get go could cause a hard to start issue. Also make dang sure you're using a diesel rated oil.

do you get smoke out of the tailpipe when it wont fire?

I'm almost betting it needs glowplugs (mine has similar problem, but will start if I glow the motor two or three times)...
