last Sunday.

On our way back from Placerville, Ca, with the 5r in tow, and about 250 miles from home.. The I/C input boot popped off. I limped on to the next off-ramp. Found a Big wide spot to pull off, started to "Gut" the right front corner to get to the boot. Battery & Tray, AIS & coolant filter.... Parts & Pieces on the ground.

The clamp was History. Was about ready to walk back and see if I could find it.. or put a Band clamp on to get to Civilization... When a man & his wife pulled up (in a PSD), asked if there was anything he could do.. they were from the local area.. Bla, Bla, Bla.. they were VERY insistent about taking me to the [Local] NAPA store.

Well.. the [Local] NAPA store ended up being about 15 miles away !! (it's like that in the Sierras).. Got the clamp (3 actually.. now have 2 Spares) Made some Coffee, "Larry" gave me a hand putting things back together.. Told "Larry" about SDD.. Wives visited about what wives visit about.. The Dogs & Cat did what they do.

All in All ? A PIA thing ended in being a VERY refreshing experience. Soooo.......

There ARE some very, Very nice people out there.

Joe

Ive done the same, and I'm sure many of you have too.. but it's been awhile since I've been on the "Receiving End"

Just thought I'd share this with y'all ;tu ;tu

The only stranded vehicle owners I would consider helping are OBS PSD folks.
I carry so many spare parts in my tool box while on road trips. Any other vehicle is foreign to me. :sorry

Joe glad you took care of your problem on the road. :sweet

I try and keep myself purdy Failure Resistant. KNEW I had a spare I/C Clamp.. Found it this AM.. down in the bottom of my Bed Box, under the OBA hose.

Time to DUMP the bed box and re-organize things.

thats good to hear! Its always nice to help out and it feels great knowing you helped turn a bad spot in their trip into less of a bad spot..

it is nice to have someone help when in need -- just need more people like you and Larry and his wife out there! Thats why my wife and I LOVE the diesel community - for the most part they are just a bunch of GREAT and AWESOME people!

Hey Joe;

Another advantage of being retired, life goes by at a slower pace, and you can take more time helping others in need. Good deeds have a way of coming back to you. :D
