In a van down by the river...
Since my warranty expired, I don't have Roadside Assistance or towing coverage anymore and that's not a comfort level I want to be on the road without. I've been reading about the Good Sam RV club, but the only (introductory) price of $19.95 I found on their website seems too good to be true for coverage that folks have reported to be really good, especially if you're broken down when hooked to a trailer. AAA, on the other hand, is a known quantity since Maggie has their coverage but they're EXPENSIVE ($131 for AAA Plus/RV in WY) and I don't really give a hoot about their other benefits like car buying assistance, tripticks, etec...

I have both...
AAA tows for 100 miles per member per day. Good Sam is unlimited to nearest repair station. My dues was $79.95. for Good Sam
Also Good Sam is set up to pull your trailer or 5er if needed.
I would check with them again... I think $19.95 does not sound right.

AAA is a rip-off in my opinion. I have towing coverage through my insurance company that only costs a few bucks every six months and they will tow you as far as it takes to get it to a shop as where AAA will go 100 miles. Check with your insurance agent especially if you are not interested in all the other frills that come with AAA. The towing coverage from people like State Farm and others is better than the towing coverage that comes with your factory warranty. If you had checked the fine print on your warranty about towing your "comfort level" would have been very low before now.

We choose AAA after the warranty was up for our roadside mainly for if we ever needed to be towed we request carrier for it's the only safe way to transport an 8,000 lb+ truck.

I'll probably call our insurance co to see what their towing provisions are just to make sure as I'd be interested in saving a few bucks too:sweet

I might also add that with a Basic AAA membership you only get 7 miles worth of towing, you have to buy the $120 plus membership to get the 100 mile towing. I just checked my State Farm policy and it is costing me $4 every six months for there roadside assistance. With the State Farm towing I can call any towing company I want to and State Farm will pay them if they accept State Farm or State Farm will reimburse me the same day if I pay the towing company. With AAA you have to call 1-800-AAA and the dingbat on the end of the phone line that lives 10000 miles away will take care of calling you a tow truck and when they get there you better cross your fingers that they brought a big enough truck for the job. If you use the other member services that AAA offers they might be worth it but I wouldn't so I am not a member.

Just one thing to note, that State Farm,AllState,National(NAC),AAA,atc. all have mileage limits to your policy. Some go to 7 miles, others 15,25,etc and anything over starts at $7 and up per mile(every tow company has a different rate) so do check what yours covers in print.

Our AAA Texas covers up to (4) 100 mile tows per disablement plus a bunch of other stuff.Runs us $80 a year.

We bought the Good Sam membership and the Roadside Assistance coverage. I talked to a bunch of the vintage sports car racers with motor homes or large rigs and they all had Good Sam. At the campground in Phoenix this past New Years I think everyone had a Good Sam sticker on their rig.

We are also considering getting the medical coverage, which will pay to get your rig home if something happens to you. Hey, I am getting a bit older now!

For the guys that want the towing and road side while rving away from the city, look into places like rv america. It will couple with your tailer insurance. It covers a whole crap load of stuff while your rving. At your camp site I think thier is some coverage for damages to your truck wraped up in it. I think it is like 12 bucks a month. It was like two pages of crap that it covers.
