I've read the previous threads about testing the Glow plugs and the Glow Plug Relay. I had a few questions about the test.

Glow plugs: There are nine male/female terminals on the harness, which ones to you hook the Ohm meter leads to? male or female? Should the key be turned on to test the resistance?

Glow Plug Relay: from the threads it says to jump the 2 main post on the relay and keep it that way for about as long as the "wait to start" light cycles. The key should be off during this, right? And then started after you remove the jumper? Please elaborate. How do you test a relay off the truck?

I've never done it but this is how I understand it. The GPs are the 4 outter pins, 2 on each edge of the valve cover harness. Take the red probe from meter and put it in the harness in the VC since that is where the GPs are, put the other probe to ground to take a reading. No key on since you are just testing continuity of the plugs.

When I "jumped" my GPR I took the one red end of cable to one post and then the other red end to the other. 20 seconds or so with the key off, then proceeded to turn the starter over leaving the cables on. Make sure they are back out of the way of any moving parts.;) Best to test on a cold iron start.

I don't know of another way to test the GPR.

If it works, then that means the relay is NOT bad, correct?
