Testing is accomplished by testing for voltage drop across the two large lugs when the glow plug relay is engaged.

Voltage drop on standard OEM equivalent GPR's is usually less than 0.5V The voltage drop on my stancor is 0.06V.

You will need a digital multi-meter to do the diagnosis a swinging arm will not work for this job.

I was trying to check it that way after the truck was running but my digital multimeter was giving me some weird numbers like -5v on the out post. Where can you get good relays at are some better then others?

the step up from the OE GPR is the stancor DC Contactor which can be purchased from allied electronics the part number is in the part number thread sticky at the top of this section.

I'll check mine when I get home to see if there is any voltage reading after the gpr kicks off.
