I have a early 99 F350 that I bought. I got the guy's name who owned it before and called and talked to him. I guess the Truck lived in the construction field hauling around a bobcat for most of it's life. Owner said it went thru alot of tires and brakes (not unusual for 300K + miles) Motor is original and tranny rebuilt around 245K. He said that someone had put gasoline in the fuel tank, and they ended up replacing the injectors, about 30K ago. He said it smoked after that and he traded it in. He really misses the truck, he had alot of time in it and he said it was better than the '05 he bought in it's place.
My question is what can gasoline do in a diesel. I have no smoking problems with it other than a little on startup. I thought I read in a past post about possibly blowing a head gasket running with gas in the fuel. Anyone have any input on this. The truck has run fine for the 3000 miles I have put on it, with one 200 mile towing trip hauling a 20 ft car trailer loaded with ATV's. Truck is completely stock yet (cat converter) no chips or gauges or anything. I plan on doing exhaust and a chip in the next few months. Could running the mixture have damaged/clogged the cat, I'd really like to not have it and run a 5" exhaust setup. Thanks for the input.
