How hard is it to remove the fuel tanks on these monsters? I have to pull the front one first and drain the water out of it unless there's an easier way to suck them dry... then next week the rear tank will be dropped...
Thanks guys

How much do you think the bed weighs? I have a New Holland TC18 tractor with a front loader on it I wonder if it would pick it up? Maybe I could talk my bil into helping again. He may of forgotten about the front bushings by now...Either way I'm sure it'll be fun...
Thanks for the options

2 strong adults can pickup the truck bed. it's awkward but doable.

IMHO dropping the tanks is a better option for you that way you can turn it upside down and dump out the water crud rather than trying to suck it out.

The tanks are relatively easy to drop a transmission jack helps to make it easier to lift & lower but is not required. Run the tank as low as you feel comfortable then siphon the rest out of the filler neck before you go to remove it.

The FEL will work just fine. I took mine off with a 1/2 ton chain hoist. Hooked up to the tie down eyes in the bed.

Engine Hoist Way

You can use an engine hoist to pull the bed.

Cut and put a 4x4 to fit under the bed rails. Ihave used the center stake hole as a stop to keep it from sliding.

Remove the tailgate and then hook up the 4x to the hoist and lift off. The bed will tip and the back end will bear against the engine hoist and the ballance from the 4x. As long as the bed is tipped back. It wont slide.

Sorry to hear that Ron, how'd you get a load of water?

We're not sure where it came from. When I went back to PacPride about it they pulled the monitor printouts and they showed zero water in the tanks the night I fueled up. And so far since the last issue I posted about ( when the truck stopped running from all the water) we've pulled over a gallon from the front tank. I've never had an issue in the past with water so we're all scratching our heads on where it came from. I've dumped additives in but the light is still coming on, although only when I take a turn. So now I'm thinking on just running the tanks down and dropping them to get the rest of the O2 out of them. The big decision is which is the easiest way to get them out...

Thanks for the suggestions on pulling the bed. I'm leaning in that direction.

Hmmm, so you keep getting water? Wonder if the tank isnt split or you are getting road water in there somehow?

if he's getting water in both tanks then it's not a tank problem I'd check the return lines to see if it's rusted through.
