I am confused about the fuel pump shim...I was told the fuel pressure is all mechanical and the chip doesn't control it, then I was told that the chip would over-ride the shim and with the Superchips it's useless to do the shim. Anyone care to clear this up for me?
Thanks,
Jesse

have a look at the wiki page on shimming the FPR for 99+. yo will see what the mod does and what the controls are.

the fuel pressure regulator is MECHANICAL. would who ever told you the superchips programmer would overide it be trying to sell you one?

a programmer/chip will alter the fuel delivery TIMING.

Jesse,

I think you might be confusing fuel pressure with injection pressure. ie, shimming the regulator confused with the 10K mod.

The chip will over ride the 10K mod, but the fuel pressure is a mechanical function and the chip wont/cant alter it.

You can stack a 10k mod with the superchips, for a small gain... But a well tuned chip will not need a 10k. But as posted, the fuel pressure is all mech...

it is a good thing to do. it makes it run a little nicer. you may or may not notice it. there is no down side to the mod. it sort of goes hand in hand with the high presure oil crossover pipe or hose . it can make your engine a little sweeter.

the feul presure shiming can give you a little better snap off the line i think.

It also ensures that you are filling the injectors all the way when you start pushing high RPM's.
