Has anyone run a mechanical fuel pressure gauge to the a-pillar with an isolator? I have my parts laid out and am wondering about the 1/4" ss line that is supposed to attach to the back of the gauge and how I will get it up behind the pod.

Also, where and how do you mount the isolator? I have the Autometer isolator and it is a small round part that has no bracket and no mounting instructions. There is an unexplained metal C shaped ring that goes into a groove on the isolator but has no obvious purpose.

I appreciate any input.

Is this the isolator you got?

If so, and I'm just guessing here, but maybe you drill a hole in the firewall slide the gauge side of the isolator through the correct size hole and then slide the clip onto from the inside of the truck. Like the way a lock is attached inside a door?

Can you post up some pics?

You may have to get creative with some different angle fittings to connect inside a pod.

I think Big Joe runs an in-cab FP gauge. PM him, he'd be alot more help with the isolator than me.

What kind of pillar did you get? I had to pull my pillar, drill a hole in it to run any tubing and wires to my gauges. Also drilled holes for the plastic rivet type things to hold the autometer pod to it. Ran the stuff through the firewall, layed on my floor board and found the best way to run it up. I had someone pull up the end once they could reach it from the A-pillar. Is the SS line a hard line?

Can't wait can ya? :D Are you going to put them in yourself?-popcorn

WB - yes that is the isolator I got. The only reference to install is "do not mount isolator on firewall per NHRA safety rules". You do drill a 7/8" hole and run gauge end up and the SS line connects directly to the gauge. I then have to run another SS line to my regulator. Connecting that part also has no instructions.

Antonio - no I cant wait :D but, dammit, I guess I will have to. I now have a list of honey-dos as long as my arm. I give up for now. You free in 2 weeks? I dont really want to do this without benefit of experienced supervision. I'll buy the beer! I know it will be kid dependent but let me know.

I got the Autometer 3 pod a-pillar gauge with the phantom gauges - pyro, boost, FP and Im ITCHING to have them in. It's like a naked woman beckoning from behind an invisible and impenetrable glass wall. Ok, maybe Im a little over eager. :D

I'm guess'n here Peter, cux mine's a bit different. HP plastic lines, but if your Isolater is like the Pic Budro posted.... just by the length of it.. I would think That line would run from the back of the Filter houseing to a covenent place under the hood, then run a HP Neopren (sic) line thru the Firewall, up to the gauge.

FWIW... I dressed all threaded connections with TFE paste.

:dunno

JOE

PM or Post if I can be of any help.

actually the ss line in the picture is the part that attaches to the gauge. Im wondering, given its size, if that line will easily go up the pillar through the underside of the pod or if whatever gap is there to run lines is going to be too small. that line is about as thick as my fore-finger.

I wont have the opportunity to try it out for 2 more weeks. Today got shot and I never even started. I'll post more questions when the time comes up again.

thanks.

From posts earlier today you know Antonio and I got this thing in a couple days ago. I have devised a plan to mount the isolator but now have a related question:

What kind of fittings do I need on the line I will get to run from my FPR to the isolator (each end)? I am guessing I will remove the scrhrader valve from my FPR and screw on a JIC fitting but what size? And what will go on the other end to connect to the isolator?

It is an Autometer isolator very much like the one pictured in Budro's post. I have emailed Autometer but not heard anything.

Thanks again!

I'm not sure if THIS is the fitting you're looking for, but Dennis at ITP sells it.:dunno
