...and, go figure, it gelled right in front of the Chevy dealer. I had a bottle of PS 9-1-1 behind the back seat so I was back on the road in 10 minutes or so but that was a rather unfortunate location for that to happen....

I was thinking the same thing, but the fuel in the lines that were in the engine compartment must have been warm enough to flow, but when it started drawing out of the under-cab lines, that stuff was a wee bit cold (wind chill was ~-25*F or so this morning).

So did mine--those two new batteries I put in back in October make sooooooo much difference starting, but once the engine started pulling cold fuel out of the under-cab lines, that's when I figure it gelled. I had the block heater plugged in all night so the fuel that was in the engine compartment was probably warm enough, but everything else was cold. BTW: I put in 1/2 bottle of the white-bottle PowerService at the last fillup, so I figured that would hold me until I bought some more but I guess that wasn't completely true...

We had 63 mph winds yesterday afternoon(clocked on weather station) with air temps at 2°, the WCF was -27° below. By 9 pm the wind died, the skies cleard off and it was -25° below air temps on my ride into work this morning. Its warmed up to -11° below.

JV...I see you have done the Hutch mods. What kind of filter are you using before the pump since you removed the screens?

Reason I ask is because last year when I was using the cheapy 99cent filter it gelled on a day that the high was 12F. With out the mixing chamber mixing warmed fuel with the cold from the tank the lines will gel fairly easily on the fly from what I was told by a vendor.

Installed a heated pre-pump filter and have had no problems with fuel pressure even on the mornings it's been single digits. I'm running B20 through a 2 micron filter too!:D

I've got the cheapie for now, but I would like to upgrade to something better eventually. The FASS/AirDog systems are intriguing, but they're also rather spendy and I'm not sure if I can get a heat option for them.

Only living things feel the wind chill. To your truck -10 is just -10. As much as some of us beleive our trucks are living things, that's not the case. :sly
