Does anyone know of another front unit bearing conversion kit other than Dynatrac? The price of that kit is not very enticing. I know it is very high quality stuff, but I would like to see what else is out there before I buy. Anyone else heard of anything? Anyone ever fixed it themselves?

I haven't heard of any alternatives to the Dynatrac as far as conversion kits are concerned.

FWIW, I did the Dynatrac thing last Labor Day. I started a thread here detailing the adventure. If you look up my previous posts, you can go right to it.

I also did a some pics as I did the Dynatrac conversion and can be seen in my webshots, link is below.

Anyone know if the newer unit bearings can be adapted to the older axles. I know they are a different design, but still the same sealed unit bearing. Suppose to last longer. With these wide wheels I have, I replace one about every 30,000 miles. Guess I have no choice but to go to Dynatrac.

Under the FWIW catagorie....

Since about the 40 k mark.. now at 150K.. every summer I pull my bearing units out, using the syring that come with some of those ink cartridge fill kits I force in fresh Mobile 1 Grease... (the Red stuff) once I have gotten to the point of not being able to insert any more I switch to Mobile 1 75-140 gear oil.... I fill the remainder of the bearing with that .. then reassemble. I Force all this added lube through the ABS sensor hole.... It is slow go but as time has shown it does work. on a side note ...every time I have removed the bearings there has always been some leakadge inside the spindle area where Oil and grease have expanded outside the bearing... I also try to spin the unit as much as possible while repacking to remove as much air as possible.
