Hi everyone, Im new here, the name is joe,not really sure what im doing just yet,I have a question for anybody who might care to help,my 7.3 f-350 4x2 just starting squirting tranny fluid out from the vent tube on top ,pretty good enough to leave a major puddle before i noticed it,I must tell you also, the thing has been making a loud rattling noise for some time now,it will go away at just above idle, was told it was probably thr tourque converter. it will still drive forward and reverse,so not sure if anything broke, maybe somebody has heard of this problem before, I would really appreciate any help,, thanks in advance..

I am not a auto tranny expert, but any time an auto makes noise, is needs looking into. Have a good tranny shop check it out. Good Luck!

Thanks Dave, for the reply I do plan to seek help that way,but being the weekend I figured somebody could maybe give me a heads up on the problem, from past experience.hoping maybe i can get away with just a tc and cooler .from what I resd on this forum, sounds like the tc has been breaking up internally and possibly clogging cooler, causing overheating sending fluid out the vent tube.(maybe)

The only way yul know, with any peace of mind what all has been effected, is to take it to a REPUTABLE trans shop and have all the major component assemblies bench inspected, and spec tested.

A rebuilt replacement trans is often comparatively cheaper than fixing the original.. due to labor costs ? A BTS trans comes to mind.. if you plan on keeping your 99+ 7.3. But, there are also up-graded TC's.. if thats [all] that has gone bad.. after inspection.

Fix it Once.. and fix it Right.. kinda thing ??

I think your right, shortcuts usally turn out to be the long way around in the end,I do depend on the truck everyday,so fixing it once right is cheaper then twice wrong,Thanks again Joe.
