Just wondering if anyone out there has their own input about the mpg affects the deivce has had on their 7.3 psd. Kinda sounds like a long term fix for having to add the cetane boost/diesel kleen at every fill-up.

why do you think you HAVE to add cetane boost at every fill up?

The fitch stuff is a little suspect- "Increase Gasoline Octane & Diesel Cetane "
which tells me that is is probably pretty heavy on solvents, which dries the fuel out more.

... and when you dry out the fuel.. you [might be]... drying out seals, gaskets & O rings.

According to my diesel mechanic, the low sulfur diesel is bad for the gaskets (or something with the engine). And too fix the sulfur issue, the additives will improve that issue. Haven't done any research on it myself.

The additives do boost my daily driving by 1mpg and 1.5 on the interstae. I can use one jug on about 4 tanks of fuel. So lets do the numbers, My base mpg w/out any additive is 14.5mpg for a 30 gal tank=435miles till my next fill-up. Now w/additives, 15.5mpg for a 30gal tank=465miles till next fill-up. Then keep in consideration that that jug lasts 4 tanks. Thats an extra 120 miles with additive. So say 120miles (I wouldnt have gotten by not adding additives)/14.5mpg=8.28 extra gallons the additives gave me. Then 8.28gal x 2.89 per gallon=$23.92. I couldn't find walmart or anyone else's price for an 80 oz jug on google shopping search, but some of the online stores had it from $13-$15.

So the stuff pays for itself and gives you a better running engine.

Now for the numbers on the Fich fuel catalyst....

Supposedly these unit lasts 250,000
So with my 14.5mpg, thats 17,241.379 (2.89 per gal x 17,241.37=$49,826.49) gallons of diesel throught that 250,000.

If the fitch fuel catalyst bumped it to 15mpg, that will be 16,666.666 gallons of diesel through out the 250,000. That's 574.713 less gallons (574.713x2.89=$1660.92)

And if it just does 1.5mpg increase...thats 1,616.379 less gallons (1,616.37x2.89=$4,671.30...For a $450 product.

Just seen your post BIG JOE. Is there anyway to tell if this would dry out the gaskets an o-rings? Too many "probablies" and "mights" have been posted.

Just sent an email to fitch fuel catalyst company concerning its affects on the o-rings and gaskets. I will make another post on their reply.

Just did some quick research and have decided against it. What other ppl are saying is that it, along with some other catalyst, use tiny metal fragments to actully boost your mpg. These tiny fragments damaged the fuel system. With the fitch system, the sack that has all the metal fragments can bust and DUMP into the fuel system. Another post I found was here... WikiAnswers - Does the Fitch fuel catalyst work ...wiki of all places huh. But the guy did supply an interesting site.

And here is the FAQ page for power service that makes the Diesel Kleen...

Power Service Products, diesel fuel additives, prevent gelling, clean injectors, disperse water, boost cetane, reduce emissions, improve fuel economy

"However, Diesel Kleen has a more concentrated detergent package to clean dirty injectors and reduce exhaust emissions up to 50 percent. Diesel Kleen provides a larger cetane boost than Diesel Fuel Supplement, up to 6 numbers, for smoother quieter engine operation with more power, less smoke and increased MPG up to 8 percent. Diesel Kleen also contains our proprietary Slickdiesel® lubricator to protect fuel injectors and pumps against accelerated wear from Low and Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD) fuels."

So is it bad to run the Diesel Kleen in every tank of fuel? don't do it in every tank in the first pace. But I have thought about making it a routine.

Nope, no way to tell which of the Hundreds of these Miracle additives.. Maybe, Can, Might, or Did.. cause a problem.

But it's your truck guy.. Your call.

A 2 cycle oil/fuel mix continuously.. and a shot of Diesel Klean now'n then works fer me.

I am with Big Joe on this one. It is your call. We have been getting a lot of Miracle additive posts. Why does everybody have to have the latest and "Greatest" Miracle cure??? ULSD is not going to kill your truck if you don't add this stuff. You will not get better fuel mileage or better sex. It is a ploy to get you to spend your money needlessly!

Well for me its about stretching my $ as far as I can. I ran the numbers (fuel milage) and the diesel kleen does at least cover its cost...probably even save you money. I do even notice better performance from my truck. So if they can make some money while I save some money then its all good....as long as the additive is safe. I know a lot of truckers use this product just by looking at the garbage can at the truck stops. Just asking for some input fron ppl that have used it religiously....thats the best way I know how to determine what would be the best product. Haven't had any compliants as far as sex goes:sly...its all good.

the ulsd does not have the lubrication for the engine like the good ol regular diesel did so therefore more injector, and other things are more apt to premature wear etc... do you have to run it? no...i run diesel services in every tank...they have a great rep and cheap enough to run all the time
