I recently started up my first business (in the oil/gas industry) and bought my first truck- an F350 dually crew cab. It's a 2008 model with the 6.4L diesel, automatic. I bought it without the bed and at the moment a flatbed is being made for it. I'm very happy with the truck so far, it's my first diesel and I'm stunned at how much torque this baby has. I have a limited slip with 4.11 rear end. With only 200 miles on the odometer I was getting about 21 mpg cruising at 50 to 55 on a trip from Slidell to Lafayette LA. Although the ride was bouncy without any weight on the rear, the mileage was really nice.

The sticker was 40K and I was able to get it for about 33.9. It's an XL with power group, cloth seats, vinyl floor, and A/c. Theres a few other options, but I can't remember them all. It's not a decked out model, but will be doing a lot of work.

I was not able to locate a 350 with the towing mirrors and upgraded headlights. Does anyone know if it's a worthwhile effort to buy the Ford towing mirrors and install them myself? Can I buy the upgraded headlights as well?

Or is there a place where I can buy better mirrors (something with a blind spot mirror added as well)? I'm mot looking for the type that clamp on the existing mirrors, but rather, a replacement. I love the Ford towing mirrors, they are so much better than the
stock version.

And Yes you can upgrade the head lights yerself also. I think someone on here has recently done it.. and may Also Chime in.

BOTH upgrades are Well worth the money'n effort.0

I'm in Slidell right now on high ground. Shouldn't be too bad. BUT my truck is in Lafayette (of all places!) getting the bed installed. Lafayette will be in the direct path although the winds will be not much more than CAT2. It's inside a very well built building.

Thanks for the tips.

Another question regarding the TT mirrors: Will prior year TT mirrors fit the 08F350. Also will the TT mirrors from the 08F250 or even a F150 fit too?

What would the cost be for genuine Ford parts be?

Thanks
David
(I'll try searching, but I haven't had much luck)

Glad to hear yer on high ground ;tu

Prior years ? Not sure. 08 250 TT mirrors would fit, but 150's.. ? don't think so. Different Body style.

Cost ? That ALL depends on the Ethics & Morals (sadly) of the Dealer you go through. Be sure and shop around.

The 2008 TT mirrors, are GREAT!!, I recently put a set on my truck, far better than even the 05-07 TT mirrors that were on it.

Thanks and yes working in oil and gas service industry is great. Lots of good people in this field- especially if you're into trucks :)

Thanks for the advice. If I look for the TT mirrors through salvage yards, can they be found on prior year Super dutys?

The trucks I test drove had them and they are a perfect design. Unfortunately the truck I found had everything I wanted except for that one feature ..

David
Thanks!

Welcome to SDD. Your best bet is probably e-bay for the 08 mirrors. If your looking just for superduty towing mirrors I found a site you can get replacement mirrors cheaply.
