I think you are not getting what is meant by CARRYING an extra filter. Your filter(s) will become clogged at some point when you are first using BIO. You will need to change the filter(s) when this happens. Adding an extra filter means you will have to change that also.

regardless, it is not a bad idea to put on a Racor pre-pump filter and water separater. I have one but it isn't installed yet. Stay away from Dahl - they are not bio compatible despite what they will tell you.

Yep, that's the one. I have a different model but as long as it says Racor, you should be ok. I have not done research to see if there are any different styles - fuel filter should be a fuel filter.

Fire, the inner linings of the Dahl are not b100 compatible even though Dahl claims they are. Roosterdiesel has some pictures of his Dahl after running b100 and it completely deliminated and came apart. He has switched to Racor. Now, I have no idea if there is any issue with the filter head. Maybe not and maybe you could find a better filter canister but I don't know.

I believe he only had issue with the Dahl heater portion. Mine does not have that. The only other items would be o-rings I believe.

The adhesives of the Dahl that bond the cellulose filter media to the top and bottom of the cartridge aren't compatible with high percentages of biodiesel. The adhesive on the filter element were gummy just like the epoxy on the heater. Filter bowl had cracks coming out of the holes for the probes for heater wiring in only 500 miles.

Racor warrants any of their products with ASTM bio of any blends. I personally went with the 900FH Turbines series in a heated version. Multistage filtration and element cost influenced my choice. Also the Turbine series was around before the Dahl.;)

Thanks for the clarification Antonio. Was this running B99 or a blend?
