I have heard of being able to do a homemade fast idle modification. Anybody have any info on that? I have the 7.3 in a '03.

Pardon me for barging in.

Is this something other than factory? MY 99.5 idles up if it sits idling for a little. Is that stock or what the OP is talking about?

where is the bus today?
yeah there is some kind of fast idle built into the stock programming for warming up in cold weather thats different, at least from my point of view, i flip into high idle when i have to close a road and am going to be sitting for multiple hours with strobes on, 1, drawing a little more power then normal at idle, 2 dont want to wash down the cylinder walls with fuel thats bad.

Yeah thats what I wanted it was for the long idling times. I did notice that the Edge programmer has a fast idle setting on it but its in the Extreme custom program so it really does me no good!

Back in the 90's the ambulances we used had a separate modoule monted on the dash that you could idle up if sitting for any time with the lights on. Just wonder how something like that would interface or if they still make such a thing that we could install.

there is SOMETHING out there, our 02 7.3 ambulance high idles any time the e-brake is set, however this is not possible in just tuning the 7.3 PCM does not see any input form the ebrake (6.0s do) so it has to be an external module but i dont know anything about it.
