Hey guys I am having problems with the ol'truck. I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions. The ol' truck is my '96 F-150 with 280,000. This truck is the whole reason why I stick with Ford. 5.0 Litre XLT. Still runs good, she is getting a little loose in some areas but no leaks or burning of oil. Here is my delima:
As I place the truck into gear it seems to "skip" on into drive or somewhere else. It doesn't have the "stops" that it used to; where you could feel which gear you were in. Of couse I adjusted the indicator but it still seems to have quite a bit of play and on occasion I am putting it into drive or neutral thinking that it is in reverse. Anybody have any suggestions. I have my thought that there is some type of collar under there that dictates these stop points that has worn out/off. I am trying not to mess with that airbag so if someone could tell me that it could be fixed without removing the steering wheel I would be most happy.
Thanks in advance,
Rob
