I dont rember ever really seeing any threads on this, so I am gunna ask.

Do you guys buy the extended warrenties on your trucks? Also, do you think they are worth it. My 2006 has 30,000 on it and I have to decide if I want to purchase it or not. It will cost me $2135.00 and that will cover 500 compents untill 75,000 or Aug of 2011. Looking for some feed back..

I did buy it a few years ago, and NO I don't think it is worth it for $2100 for 20,000 odd miles of coverage. If you are going to have troubles, you will know by 50,000 miles. If you still are having troubles after 50,000 miles, then get the extended warranty. Only get the Ford warranty, the others are no good.

Ya that is how I am looking at it. My trucks got 30k and hasnt been back to the dealer once (knock on wood). I figure if it was going to have problems somthing would of happened already. My dad is pushing me hard to buy it, but then again it is not his 2k is it..

On my first powerstroke back in late 98 i bought a used 97 that had like 40 k on it.I received the 30 day warrenty from the dealer, when I went to pick the truck up with a buddy of mine he convinced me to purchase one at the last minute.Well sure enough after about 35 days the trans let go.Glad I listened to him and bought it.

I've got mixed emotions on this. I bought one from e-warranty company at around 36k on my truck when the bumper to bumper warranty went out. I have a $0 deductible, and it covers the truck for 7 years or 120,000 miles, whichever comes first. There is a $10,000 limit on claims, and I can say that it has definately payed for itself becuase it cost me about $2000.

Now, I will agree with Dave to a point. The one from Ford is supposed to be better becuase you dont have to go through so much hell when you make a claim. I have certainly had to get on the phone with a supervisor on more than one occassion and lay into him to get things right. However, when purchasing one its fine and dandy when they tell you what IS covered. What is really important though, it what is NOT covered. The guy at ford would not show me what is NOT covered so I chose not to buy there. I would be weary if you were to run into the same situation.

In short though, I think it is wise to buy one becuase the parts on our trucks tend to be more expensive than other vehicles and usually within 1 or 2 trips to the dealership it will end up paying for itself. Sorry for the long post, but thats my stance on it. Good Luck!
