The EBS is located on the front of the engine right of the HPOP, if you look at the bottom of the right exhaust manifold you will see a tube coming off it and leading to the sensor. This sensor monitors the back pressure in the manifold and actuates the EBPV (exhaust back pressure valve) which pretty much should only happen on cold starts to aid in engine warm up.

Clear the code and see if it comes back, it most likely was just sensing out of range for the conditions expected.

will my truck throw a code if i take out the exhaust back pressure valve?

No. When/If you disconnect the EBPV electrical connector.. put a shunt wire across the female connector pin end... Fold it back and wire tie it to the loom it came from. No codes.

FWIW ? I've wired my EBPV to be used as an Exhaust Brake.. of sorts, controlled by a switch on the dash. Many others have too.

Kits are available to do it the Plug'n Play way.

:dunno

shunt wire? is that like another term for jumper wire? im putting in another turbo and figured it would reduce restriction a little if i took it out, i dont pull alot of weight so i wouldnt really have a need for an exhaust brake
