Has anyone removed the insulation from the engine hood. If so, does the engine sound louder, will the paint on the hood be affected any by removing the insulation (heat from engine)

Yes it will be louder, on the 05 and newer 6.0's there was no blanket from the factory. Some guys were putting them in. Why do you want to remove yours?
Oh, is it for an increase in Diesel tone??

There's some in the JC Whitney catalog, page 121 for the one I have. I know this is because I want to put some in the ceiling of my cap to help with the heat in summer and cold in winter and I was checking it out. It comes in rolls.

I got mine from a firm called Second Skin Audio. I installed the "Motormat" product, works really well in reducing engine noise.
