Question Emissions for California

I might be moving to Cali really soon and I was wondering about the emissions testing... I have a 02 7.3 That did not come with a CAT from the factory and I've heard that now in California I would have to buy one for my truck to pass.

Is this true??

Not True.

If your 7.3 [didn't] come OEM with a Cat (mine didn't either).. You don't need, or Have To.. add one.

Bought mine here in Cali.. Non-Cat but CARB compliant, at the date of purchace.

Yours being a 2002, I may have mis-spoke.

If you are the Origonal Owner/Buyer.. and havent removed tha Cat.. yer probably Good To Go.. But... under the lip of the hood.. there should be a label stateing that your 7.3 met all EPA & CARB spec's for your model year (bla-bla-bla) and meets California specs for the model year.. Non-Catalist for California.

At some point, after 2000.. 7.3's had to have a Cat.. I'm not sure just when that was.

The guy I had fix my truck said that the F-250 where the only ones that came with a CAT from the factory.

And my truck doesn't have that emissions sticker anywhere.... an the one sticker on the passenger side I can't read because International decided somewhere that Florescent Orange and White go really good together..... NOT. lol

Get your vin# and check your local dealer were your now at about your cat. If your truck does not have one ask them to print it out.

Don't call the DMV if you can help it. This is the biggest gov't organization in the world! You will be on HOLD for weeks.

It also depends on where in CA you are moving to, the county I live in does not require you to somg your truck at all. I don't even have a cat.
