OK.....so I am sure this has been asked before, but what about an electric fan replacement for the stock belt driven fan???

I don't know how much of a power robber the stock fan is, how big of an electric fan I would need to replace the stock unit, or anything like that.

Anyone out there done this on a 6.0??????

Flex-a-lite has a replacement fan for the 7.3 that will bolt right up with some minor mouting point modifications.
Ford PowerStroke Diesel

A few points to consider first:
1. You stock fan almost never kicks on. The only time I've ever heard mine on is when it's close to 100 outside and I'm sitting in traffic. Whenever you're moving you have enough airflow to keep the engine cool and the fan never engauges. Therefor you won't gain much if any HP.
2. Electric fans do not move as much air as the stock viscous (spelling) fan setup. Electric fans are rated for CFM in an UNRESTRICTED environment. When you have to suck air through the radiator/intercooler/AC condensor and then jam it into that little space on either side of your engine before it can be forced out the bottom, it dramatically reduces the flow.
3. It'll cost you money and you'll have more electronic stuff to malfunction eventually.

If you want it for a bling factor or just to be different then by all means do it. If you tow with your truck or work with it in any way then I would say to stick with your original.

what next 'lectric water pumps ;)

dont forget that the ELECTRICAL load on a alternator will rob
you of additional horse power too...so the fan isnt really gonna
be a zero loss item

I never had good luck with old hot rods with elec. fans, the cars ALWAYS ran hot. Put the tried and true viscous fan on 'em and they would do great, even in traffic. Ihave considered putting an elec. fan in front of the tranny cooler and to help pull more air to the front of the truck, but only as a secondary set up.
