02 F250 SD, K&N cold intake, Bully Dog Triple Dog GT, 4" turbo back exh. I can read the post turbo EGT temp, but what is a high temp? How would I know if I am running into the red? Thanks for any responses.

post turbo...which is what i think you said you have...someone correct me if im wrong, but i think 900 is the most you wanna go.

no, if you go to 1200 post turbo, you are WAYYY over.

Move the probe to pre-turbo or you will destroy your turbo without knowing you are hurting it.

From what I heard, it can be anywhere from 50-500* off. It has no real consistency in the reading its giving you. I would move the pyro probe to the bottom of the up pipe coming out of the exhaust manifold. and I've heard 1200-1250* is the highest you would want to peak for a very short period of time. If its a long pull up a hill and your reading 1200*+....I'd back out of it.

I concur with rammer. move the probe to the pre-turbo side and i've set the Banks EGT alarm at 1250 deg. Gages are a must. You should drive with one eye on the boost and EGT and back off to keep both down within limits.

Aluminum melts from 1220° F and upward. You don't want to run your truck up a long hill over 1200° for any time. Various alloys of aluminum melt higher.

Somebody please provide a link that tells at what point 7.3 pistons start breaking down....I've done heard about 10 different numbers.

Why do we limit ourselves to knowing.. the EGT's from just 4.. of 8, cylinders ?

If I understand your question correctly...... the same amount of fuel of those 4 cylinders that we do know the egt's on are getting the same amount of fuel as the other four. So theoretically the egts would be the same on both sides. I guess one could do another gauge for the other side as well if they were compelled to do so.
