OK guys, still dealing with the problem of the truck but starting with one thing at a time. Due to the warmer weather we were having the truck did not have to warm up in the morning like normal so the EBPV did not close. That is making think that may be the problem so unplugged the sensor. So far no issue, but did notice this morning when warming it up a little the RPM's went up as if the EBPV closed to put the pressure back on the engine. Is this normal? Didn't think it should do that if the sensor is unplugged. Thoughts?

What year and motor are you referring to? Fill out your signature by going to the QUICK LINKS tab in the BLUE LINE above and select Edit Signature and fill out what you drive. This will save all of us from asking again. :)

If it's a 7.3... The EBPV, by itself, won't raise the RPM. All it does is put a little back pressure on the exhaust.. to make the engine work a little harder during warm ups.. speeding up the warm up process. Just makes the engine sound different, during a warm up.. while it's closed.

i'm thinking the RPM increase you heard was the High Idle curcuit doing it's function, due temp data from the coolant temp sensor (ECT) and the oil temp sencor (EOT) .. Controlled thru the PCM.

Watch it for a coupla starts, for a coupla days?
