I am trying to learn the differences from early to later 99. I have a 99 dually 4wd. I thought early 99 had the dually bed with non removable wheel flares(molded one piece to the bed) I also thought they had the badge powerstroke on the front of the fender. Anyway, I have the badge on my door, the bed has removable dually fenders, but was built (according to the door jam sticker) 10/98.
Is this considered early? what else is different? when did emblem move and fenders(dually) change?
mainly started this investigation due to searching front wheel hubs, early to newer before and after 3/22/99
any clues on this?

The majority of differences between the early 99 and the 99.5's dealt with the engine & exhaust (deletion of catalytic convertor). The change date was about 12/7/98, so with a build date of 10/98, you have an early 99.

The Powerstroke badges on the door had no bearing on whether it was an early 99 or 99.5. The very early, early 99's had the badges on the fenders, and were moved to the door for no known rhyme, reason or significance. My early 99 has a build date of 11/98 with door badges.

The change in brakes in Mar 99 had more to do with the change to 4 wheel ABS from rear wheel only ABS. The first 99.5's had only rear wheel ABS.

I can't say anything about the dually fender flares. I thought they were all bolt on fiberglass flares.
