This is hardto explain, but I will try.
The truck is a 99 7.3 when i accelerate itd fine, it idles fine. But when i am driving down the road and i take my foot of the throttle the awesome powerstroke noise goes away, like the idm stops kicking. I know this is normal(i think) It stays that wy til it idles or i step on the go pedal again. The question is when i first back off it quits the injector type noise, and gets real quiet, but sometimes it gets right back into it but sputtering(me still not touching the pedal leaving it up) It kind of goes geh, geh geh geh geh geh
then will idle normal or resume power like it should. This is only when my foot comes off the pedal. never spudders while on the highway or accelerating. Just when i quickly remove my foot from the pedal?
is this an APPS issue? If something is going i wouldlike to fix before I break down. its my wifes, thanks:dunno

yeah, i think the quiet aspect when you get off the pedal. It kicks back up when you hit it. Lately though, when i quickly get off the pedal it goes quiet, then on, off , on, off sputtering like 3 or 4 times then either idles or runs as supposed to. Is this making any sense. Its as if someone is unplugging the coil wire 3 or 4 times real quick on a car then leaving it on, its quick but i dont think thats normal. Its not a single injector issue its more like what ever runs them. I guess the IDM? Or apps?

sounds like torque converter staying locked and then unlocking when you slow down.

I think you might be on to something. I think its electrical. But i warmed it up this morning, then drove it. I got it to start sputtering and i clicked the overdrive button on the auto shift handle and it caused it to do it weorse(or better dont remember) but clicked it again and it did the oppisite. Where do these electrical connections go to?
Could it be a loose connection? it does not fo it every time. Seems to have gotten weorse lately. The trans shifts fine, seems to drive fine, TRhe motor seems to be shutting off and on really fast in this situation. The truck does ot jerk or anything runs smooth down the road, You hear this noise more then feel it. If i give it throttle it all goes away, How do I check the TC connections
thx

well, I just frove a friends 97, it gets quiet when you take the foot off the pedal too. But mine will sound like its sputtering sometimes. This morning I hid the OD button at the same time it got weorse, I hit it again it stopped. It seems that that button will play into the sputtering.
Can someone explain the TC locking and unlocking? Why it does this? whats normal? This sputter is not normal I have. Its not like the 97 i am changind ball oints on. No sputter just the idle and rpm change but thats normal. The OD button and its operation seems to effect my idle, when the foot is released from the throttle
