I'm a new member and have been looking over the threads for someone with the same problem I am having. I have just bought a '99 250 w/ 105k on the odometer. I had the tranny serviced with filter change- previous owner said the last time it was serviced was about 50k miles ago. The said it had good pressure. The thing that is bothering me is that when I come to a stop I feel a bump in the rearend. When I accelerate it does the same thing. It doesn't seem to do it all the time. I'm not pushing it hard because I don't want to tear anything up. I'm wondering if anyone else has had a similiar problem. Thanks for any help you can give me.

it sounds like the torque converter locking up. i am no expert on the matter but it sounds like an issue my friend had when he went into reverse. welcome to sdd.com

doubt it..

there is a TSB on the slip yokes on this driveline... pull the driveshafts and coat the splines with Lubri-Plate or similar silicone grease

I seem to remember hearing of a similiar problem with driveshafts on chevy p/u's. I spoke with someone who told me that the driveshaft would "bind" on the spline if a certain type of grease wasn't used. I'll give it a shot and see what happens.. and thanks for replies. I have enjoyed reading the responses all of you have given to the different problems listed. This is a super website.

105k on the clock and nothing has ever been done to the driveline most likely. at that point you might want to check all the u-joints and center bearing if it has one.

I dropped the driveshaft this weekend and greased the spline with some PTFE I got from the local Ford dealer. No more problems. Thanks for the good advice.
