Difference in beds 2000 to 2008

I am planning on getting a camper shell for the truck and also installing a 2008tailgate. The potential problem is that the newer tailgate has a different cap to it which then requires a different rear window on the shell. It all comes down to if I want the '08 tailgate I need to order a shell for an '08 truck. Does anyone know if the dimensions are different between '00 and '08.

As far as I know Scott, there are no diff. in the over all dimensions of the bed itself. You are right about the tailgate cap on the '00 vs. '08.

The '08 is more flat at the top and the others are rounded.

The tailgates with the step built in are shaped different at the top for sure.
The hardware inside the gate may be different and not swap from the old gate to the new one.

The inside hardware for the older tailgates and the non-step tailgate will interchange.

I used the old hardware for my 2008 non-step tailgate.

I am planning on a non-step 2008 tailgate right now, unless the tax return is good. The only thing I don't like about the step model is that it doesn't look very comfortable to sit on due to the handle that is no so recessed.
