Named the Appalachian (undoubtedly to create an image of American ruggedness), the truck "would become the first diesel-hybrid to hit the light-duty market in the United States."

I saw that on another site - definately an interesting looking truck... but looks like the big 3 better get their diesels out asap!

That is great news. I believe Appalachian is the Hindu translation for Nut-Buster, but that apparently didn't translate well. This vehicle is not only tiny, but a real looker, too. It should sell like Vulcan ears at a Star Trek convention when it reaches our shores.

dlonno, you would probably need the "extended cab" model, which gives you room in the back for rakes, fishing poles, etc. The limited edition "Square Wheels" model will also include a second tailgate hinge and will feature a full 30 inch bed. This version also features ammenities such as an am radio with 1 speaker, brakes on both axles, and an abacus to keep track of your mileage. The top of the line model, to be released later, Is the "Mountain Oyster"which includes all of the features normally found on the Square wheels model, plus seat covers and genuine corduroy trim on the door panels. Its going to be an exciting year!

How could I? Its a long list of standard features, and the Mountain Oyster is rumored to have enclosed differentials, where the base line Nut-Buster has open gears. And the 3 speeds reverse, 1 forward should help it use even LESS fuel.

I won't buy a Mahindra tractor, and I'm not buying a Mahindra pickup.

They might be the "in thing" for puttering around the streets of Calcutta, but I bet they'll get outlasted by Kawasaki Gators on the farm...
