Diesel Cetane Ratings

I was getting fuel the other day when I started talking with a man who had a Dodge 3500 with the Cummins who was from VA. He advised me in VA the cetane ratings are posted on the pumps allowing him to fuel up at the stations that advertise a cetane rating of 45 instead of 40. I wished MD had this policy.

I hear that. PA doesn't post the ratings either. I was in NY state this weekend, and they also post the ratings on the pump. If they can post the rating of gas, why not diesel?

I agree, I don't understrand the reason the ratings are not posted in all 50 states?????

those stickers are old and out of date.

the ULSD is 4-6 points higher than low sulphur fuel. its going to be at LEAST 46.

ULSD is pretty much mandated in all 50 states.

BlueOneTon, there is a Sunoco station up in Timonium that has the Cetane ratings posted on their diesel pump, but it is one of just a few I have seen in Maryland.

I bought some about 6 months ago in PA that WAS NOT ulsd and it stated it on the pump. Before I bought it I had to show my registration, to get the stuff, that my truck was not a new one. By just the looks they should have seen the difference, dents, dings, scratches, and looked like crap.

in pa I found a place that sold hi test diesel.
Here in mocksville nc, I goto horns truck stop. In the truck lanes they have lsd and ulsd, Big signs. WHich is cool. I can get the lsd

Thanks for the information. That is only 20 minutes from my area. I have never ran Sunoco diesel.

They don't say squat about diesel in California, except for the price.
