I took my 99 7.3 in yesterday to get the oil changed. Today go to start my truck and it cranks fires up and immediately dies. Did it about 5 times then I pumped the throttle and it started to try and run. After about a minute of that it idled on its own. Also not that its the problem but it now is leaking antifreeze witch it never leaked before. Called the shop and they cant get me in till monday so any help would be great. Thanks

Temps about 30. Had truck plugged in. Oil is 10w30 serviced at Ford. I changed the fuel filter (ford filter) just under 10k ago. This is the first problem Ive had since owning the truck.

Temps about 30. Had truck plugged in. ** a good move.

Oil is 10w30 serviced at Ford. ** It's widely accepted that 5w40 is the preferred oil for the 7.3's, especially for Cold starts.

I changed the fuel filter (ford filter) just under 10k ago. **@10K, the filter is @ 3/4's of it's service life ?

This is the first problem Ive had since owning the truck.

Had it Scanned for any codes lately ?

Battery cables/clamps/posts good and clean ?

All the Glow Plugs and GP relay operating to voltage specs?

Was the Tack moving when you were cranking it ? If not.. maybe a (going) bad CPS ?

10w-30 oil seems a little light to me. Temp rating is 0-50 degrees. I wouldn't tow anything with that light of oil in it if temps warm up. Most guys on here run 5w40 oils with no cold weather starting issues and you don't have to change weights for summer.

Thanks I will call and see what oil they used for sure. I am not positive it was 10w30 I just thought that's what they said they used.
