All, on the way home the X had the door ajar light come on. I thought one wasn't shut all the way. When I got home it would not start again, I had a P238, P1260,P475, P541 Codes and the Theft light would flash quickly. After some research I removed the batteries and charged them for several hours and let everything in the truck reset, it started. The batteries were at 12.5v when I started having problems and are at 12.6v now. The alt. is putting out between 12.9v on full load, 14.3v with everything off. Now, I don't know what the problem ever was:dunno . I will have someone test the batteries tomorrow.

1. Do I need to disconnect the batteries to test them?
2. Is there a list of actions the PCM takes for each DTC code. (such as nothing, de-fuel, turn off ignition, etc)?
3. I have a AFE II, when I listen closely, there is not a constant air flow sound at idle, it has a cycling sound. is that normal (maybe I am paranoid, but I want to solve this).
4. Will any of these codes cause my engine to change the way it is running or effect performance. P238, P1260,P475, P541. I think P1260 disables the ignition from what I discovered today.
5. Is there any way possible to disable the PATS system.

Thanks!

Brett

Long list there but I might be able to help on a couple of the problems.

If your door ajar light has a mind of its own it is probably a door switch problem. The switches are in the latch and have a habit of hanging up. Just soak them down with wd-40 and they should work properly.

The theft light may have been blinking from the door ajar problem but I don't know, just a guess. When you unhooked the batteries for a while you reset the PATs so that it would start. A faster way to reset it on a X is 1. Put in key and turn to run position. 2. Wait for theft light to start flashing slow instead of fast. 3. Turn key off and remove from ignition for 10 seconds. 4. put key back in a fire it up.

It would be best to unhook the batteries to test them so they can be tested one at a time instead of together. It is possible to have one good and one bad but if one is bad change them both..

Hey Brett, I tried to respond to your PM's but your PM box was full and it wasn't allowing me to send the PM. I have seen where weak batteries will cause the P.A.T.S. system to act like your is. Get those batt's checked out one at a time.

Thanks for all the information, especially the reset information, wish I could have tried that. We had a "hard" freeze 27f that night, maybe the X was a little stiff in the morning and something was stuck. I spray the hinges and locks routinely. Is it possible to disable the pats altogether?

I was getting the door ajar light as well and noticed when I closed the rear passenger door it rattled. I pulled the panel and the latch nut was loose so tight'ned it up, light went out and I was good to go!

Ok Bart, give someone a Powerstroke, all of sudden he's a comedian! That was good, I had to think about it.

Bart when we doing the WW, Sonnax on both our trucks? This weekend is looking real good as far as weather. Did you do the CCV?

David that is a good point I just replaced the rear acuator and maybe I knocked something loose. I will take a look. Thanks

LMBO!! My wife has to deal with me 24x7!!

We need to do those soon, but I'm not sure I would be ready to forray into the tranny or the turbo by myself just yet, but I would be willing to try if I have support. I have yet to pick up those parts, but I may just do that tomorrow and have them by the weekend if you are feeling adventureous.

I did not do the CCV mod (it was cold) this weekend, but I do have all the parts needed to do it.
