Hi all:

I'm thinking about giving the Chevy drivers around here a better opportunity to hang up and notice...(me)...:p

Seriously, is there any experience with y'all on whether a daytime running light can be done (reduced light level) and how it is wired, and whether it is even worth it compared to just turning the lights on (which I often do in early am/late pm light conditions).

I find the Auto sensor on my truck really likes it to be DARK before coming on, and if I run in auto mode I end up tossing a (clean) oil rag on top of the light sensor to trick it out. Kind of defeats the idea of "auto", eh

Anyway, any thoughts or opinions would be appreciated.

if you have an 02 with auto lamps, simply drive with the fog lamps in teh on position,
for some reason a 01 and 02 and a few 03 with auto lamps will allow you to pull out the knob to the fog position and itwill illuminate the fogs while the switch is in the auto mode.
then just install a set of brighter fog lamps and viola you got drls
i did it in my 02 for 3years
best thing is its a free thing

Thanks PWBTR

I tried it just now. Switch in Auto, pull to engage fog lights, flashlight on sensor to trick it into daylight. No fog lights. Shut off flashlight and wait a few seconds. Lights up fog lights, head lights, position lights, etc...! No way to just get fog lights, I'm afraid.

Fog lights will come on in manual "parking" switch selection, which I can use instead. Just have to remember to shut 'em off!

Ah well...there's always the manual approach w/parking lights.

I did find it on ford.com after a search, $68 and no info on what "it" is. Thanks for the help!

It is a jumper plug and a voltage control module. DRLs run at 75% of normal low beam power.
