In a van down by the river...
I have a friend who just bought an '05 GMC with the DMax/Allison and when we were looking it over he asked if I knew what the compresssion ratio was and I couldn't remember what it was (although I knew that figure at one time, I don't know it now) so can anyone recall what the Dmax has for a compression ratio?
:dunno

Don't know Don't care. I am with DaveBen, this is for Ford Diesels. I think that post was some kind of sick joke by his Durasnack friend. LOL That is why you never leave you computer open. :roflmao :roflmao :roflmao

Wow, you guys are INCREDIBLY helpful...

Jvencius, It depends on the build date of you buddy's truck. The 2000-2005 MY Duramaxes had 17.5 to one compression ratios. In 4th quarter 2005 (I THINK that this would be a 2006 MY, and was when they bumped to 360 horsepower) they lowered it to 16.8 to one.

SO, if your buddy's rig is a 2005 MY, then compression ratio is 17.5 to one (similar to the one in your 7.3, if memory serves)
