Cylinder wall cavitation

Hi everyone,
New to this site and was wanting to help my cousin. What do you guys use in your antifreese to combat cylinder wall cavitation?? He just got a sweet 03 7.3 crew cab short box 4x4 and i must say i love the cab!! Thanks in advance!

go down to a diesel shop, and get some fleetguard test strips. if he needs to add sca's, there is liquid additives available. i think the ford additive is the most expensive. one important thing to remember is that if you put in too much additive, you will get scale/fallout that will inhibit the cooling system function.

My understanding was the 2003 had the new gold antifreeze that did not need the FW 16 additive

there is no such thing as antifreeze that doesnt need additive at some point. even though you can buy an "extended life" coolant (CAT), its just something they wrote on the label.
