Been doing some pricing and coming up with having the exhaust I want delivered to my house or business for around $500-$550. This is for 3.5" stainless.

This led me to going out and finding the pricing on 3.5" stainless and getting it bent and also what elbows are available. Keep in mind I have my own welder. This is going to require some mock up and a little attention, but with 3 elbows and the length of pipe needed parts are going to cost around $150 to get home. If I go to a bender for the 3 elbows that price jumps to about $250 and requires clamps instead of welding.

Thats $250 to $300 in savings. Keep in mind there will be no cat or muffler on my truck. :innocent

Who else has installed or setup their own exhaust on here? I just don't see the point in paying the higher prices when paying for a cat or more for cat delete and muffler. :dunno

If I am missing something here please let me know. Spending a weekend at the most in mocking this up and getting it installed is well worth it to me for the price difference. Besides it will give me something to do that is enjoyable. ;tu

The money saved will have to go for gauges. Still don't see how there's $300 worth of parts there. How long ago was R&D done on gauges? ;) Think it's been paid for by now. :p

Guess in the end I am just a cheap bastard, but if you can do it yourself why not?

I don't see the benefit of 4" when the turbo is 3.5 at the opening? Only as big as the smallest opening. It could be done, just don't see the point.

What year is your truck? Why SS? From the looks of your avatar, you take the truck swiming, just funnin. Give me something to work with. I have seen a 4" system for 300 but its al pipe. Still a good system but I think they salt the roads there...

You are not missing anything. The pre-built kits are for guys who don't have the equipment to do it themselves. The $250 in savings if for your time, effort and equipment. If you have the knowledge, ability and equipment to do the job by all means do it yourself. When it is all done you can stand back and pat yourself on the back for a job well done:sweet

If you've got the time, do it! But go with 4", it will run cooler and sound better. Ive got a MBRP SS dual system, been very happy with it but only payed $400 for it.

go 4" because even though the outlet might only be 3.5" useing 3.5" pipe all the way back will restrict your exhaust badly like stock
