Hey guys....

The trip to Fla takes place this saturday. I have heard and read all the stories on the cps, as well as my mechanic telling me they are real common on these trucks just to let go at any time. I figure to eliminate any issue with it, I should take a spare one with me. I looked in the "trusty" Haynes manual for the install process. It says to raise the truck and set it on jack-stands.....here is my question -- is the raising the truck part necessary? If it is just a sensor on the front of the motor what does jacking the truck have to do with it? Thanks to everyone.

you can do it from underneath the passenger side front, as long as you can squeeze under the air dam, , feet first. take a small ramp of 2x12's , to drive up on. but if she quits and wont restart, ramps arent no good. never heard of anyone doing it from up top, dont think you can.
a small 10 mm 6 point socket works wonders. if the engine is HOT, you may want to wait a few cause the items around it are..... HOT and tend to make you cuss out loud

or to make it easier go get a new one and change it before you leave, or at least do a dry run so you are not learning on the side of the road

I never had any problems with mine, but installed a new one in the garage so I would know how to do it. Put the old one in the box. Took about 15 minutes. 12 to figure out how to contort to get to it and 3 to change. You need a flat screw driver to pry out the old one.:sweet
