In a van down by the river...
1) Is it safe to add ~ 5gallons of peanut oil to my fuel tank or is there a better oil to add in?

2) Will a dino-D and VVO mix clean out the fuel system like Bio-D does and should I expect to need to change the fuel filter soon as I would if I ran Bio-D?

I've added 1 gallon of vegetable oil to a full tank but have not ventured beyond that.

I can't be of help for #2,that might require a chime in by JOAT or Sagabel:sweet

I don't know for sure if VVO will clean the injectors better than bio diesel but from what I have observed in handling VVO and bio diesel, I would say no. Bio diesel will take paint off of steal drums, oil won't. From tailpipe and seat of the pants observations, the truck runs better on #2 after a full tank of bio d than it does after a dose of Stanadyne or Power Service. Just what I have observed.

Yep, veggie oil doesn't have the solvent properties that Bio diesel has. It's the esters in biodiesel that behave as a solvent. They are basically polar so cling to metal and break away most deposits over time.

As to the first question, most have no issues running a blend. Potential issues being if you have water or other contaminants present in your tank the oil can form an emulsion or cause other reactions. Very uncommon tho even for people who run WVO blends at high ratios. you should be fine and will probably notice some improvement in the way it runs (and smells)

I've read that when filling up with B-100 it's important to wipe off any spills on your truck paint immediately.

Also if working on fuel lines make sure you clean it off. The outside of most hoses is not resistant and Biodiesel will attack it. I heard someone had a B100 leak over the spare and it ruined the tire....
