I have about decided to get one of US Gear's D-celerator exhaust brake since the design looks pretty good and also a friend of mine has one on his diesel race car hauler and loves it. I see proces around $1000 to $1100 for the unit and I decided I don't want to spend the day laying on my engine to install it like I did with the 4" SS exhaust install, hell I'm 62 now and getting old for that stuff! I checked a couple of places in San Diego and they both quoted about $1800 total, including labor. The question is: Is this about what is charged elsewhere or does it seem too high, etc? Remember this is the San Diego area so costs tend to run a tad high so what do you think?

What kind of motor does your truck have? If it's a 7.3 then save yourslef some money and just add a switch to EBPV.

Yes, the engine is a 7.3 but I am not sure if the EBPV does anything as it might be bypassed or disabled since nothing happens to it when I start the engine. I was expecting it to move and then move back once some heat got into the exhaust? The truck was originally sold in Arkansas and was used there and in Texas for the first 4 years of it's life before it came to CA with 79,000 miles on it. The main reason I like the D-celerator is the small built in waste gate to prevent over pressure.
