I also purchased the coolant filter today. Once that is installed and I have run it through a few filters, should I do a coolant flush and put in new coolant or should I just run with it? I have 73k on the original coolant now.

And that is suppose to be "COOLANT" not cooland........fat finger syndrome......

Thanks!!

id run the coolant filter <it will probably plug the 1st one pretty
quick...my 1st one was plugged w/in 1000 miles or so, and
even my 2nd one plugged w/in about 2 or 3k>...run the filters for
a bit <get that casting out> and then do a flush if you think you
really need it.

while your doin' all this check that lower hose...make sure its
not gashed by the steering control arm like mine was.

"COOLANT".:thumbs

My thoughts..................

Flush the !@#$ out of it now. Why pay for additional filters if you don't have to.

I pulled my thermostat.........connected the garden hose..........and let the engine run for 15-20 minutes(non pc way).

FWIW..........as long as you can feel heat coming from the return side hose on the filter the thing is still good to go.

i agree at least in part...you gotta get that casting crap outta
there...'specially w/ the issues im hearing about the oil cooler plug-ups.

the filter add-on is easier than flushing the coolant...and as deterimination
of when the filter is FULL (or plugged) a light touch to the filter
will determin if its HOT or cool to the touch....cool means its FULL &
needs to be changed.

dont know if youre running a 6.0 or 7.3 <hint>...but the GOLD
coolant can be had @ Autozone (only place ive EVER been able
to find it)...under the BRAND NAME: ZEREX in a GOLD BOTTLE labled
G-05 (it meets the spec that ford idenifies in the owners man.)
