Probably a simple fix but I can't figure it out.

If I play some tunes on my computer or go to a web site with sound it works so I know the speakers didn't come unplugged. The sound I have lost is the little dings and email notification. When I get a new email it use to tell me and when I did things like a spell check it would ding at the end of the check. Also when I would update my AVG it would ding when it was done. I have lost all the notifications sounds.

I imagine it is just a setting somewhere but I can't find it anywhere. Where can the notification sounds be found?

Think I figured it out..

Start-control panel-sounds and audio devices-sounds-sound scheme.

Sound scheme was blank so I changed it to windows default and now I have sounds. I use to have a voice tell me I have mail but now it just sounds off a dull thud but at least I have something. All the other dings and dongs seem the same. Why would this thing have just changed on its own?

probably one of those self-replicating files in Windows got corrupted...

I wouldn't sweat it unless it happens again, or on a regular basis..
