If i remember right they are torx screws and when i found mine i just took of the fuze panel cover and wiggled the shifter and just follow it up the steering shaft. You will see where it is bolted togeather.

Fyi: Someone elese had a loose shifter and the screws were tight? So i would also check the linkage on the trans for wear also. If that doesnt work.

yea im having the same issue and im not seeing these torx screws. there are two of them that are above the brake pedal up under there but they are tight. in the post i read on here (cant find it at the moment) it said to take off the bottom cover of the steering wheel and they were just right there...i dont see them...anyone have any other ideas? where all does the linkage go?

edit: here it is. I did not see this "U bolt" he's talking about.

Thanks Tbar! I'll have to give that a closer look. When I looked at it initially, it seemed like those 2 screws were tight. How would one go about inspecting the linkage?

I had problems with mine and all the screws turned out to be tight but the plastic bushings where the shifter assembly pivots on the column were worn out. They were not very expensive but a pain in the butt to install.

ok since you have the same year truck as i do...this assembly is up under the dash correct? Where I'm seeing this is near the brake pedal (but up above it). Is this right? I can move the shifter and see the parts moving so i would think im looking in the right spot
