I had to have my truck read for codes before, so i took it to an Auto Zone, they just pluged in this little reader under the hood and a little light blinked, Has anyone ever made one of these cheapy readers? seems like it may fairly simple.

Its another resistor mod, like the 10K mod, you slip a resistor into EOT circuit and it fools the PCM into believing that the oil temp is lower than it is and then it advances the injection timing a hair.

From my personal experiences it won't read all the codes.

Before I got AE I went to have Autozone check them they found none. Plugged in the Evo and there were some.

Since you have a 94, and they plugged in under the hood, they were most likely using the OBD-I (or whatever it is) port. The later trucks (and 94's that have been reflashed like mine) have the OBD-II port under the dash activated (which the cheapo readers usually can't read). The OBD-I on the 94's is pretty limited in value as far as information provided is concerned. If your 94 has not been reflashed (which I'm assuming it hasn't), the OBD-II port will not be active and any scan tools hooked up there won't communicate. Cheers!
