I have a 1997 F250 and the clutch is going.. if anyone has changed one, I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction. As far as what kid of clutch to get. I want something that will grab real good but it has to be affordable

there are a few to chose from.im not a gear rower so i cant tell you what is better for what you wanna do.but i have used the LUK clutch in a friends truck and it seemed pretty good.but while you are in there replace the dual mass flywheel with a single mass unit.

Make sure its going bad first. You could hav a small fuel leak that is getting on to the clutch and letting it slip.I Installed a South Bend Con-O conversion and it works fine.My clutch was ok but the duel mass flywheel was shot.

I have an SouthBend Clutch (SBC) Con-O on mine and like it. Here's a link to an article on a SuperDuty clutch installation (which will give the basic idea for doing ours): "Luk Aftermarket Clutch Upgrade". When your are in there, I would also replace the throwout bearing (if it doesn't come in the kit) and the throwout bearing lever as well (it only about $16 or so). Cheers!

i just put the LUK setup in mine. it is a good idea to get the conversion flywheel. the flywheel alone cost around $350 and the clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing cost about $370. it ends up costing around $720.

my couple pennies :D is you cannot beat South Bend and their service rep Peter Pyfer :sweet :hail

I had a CON-O that crapped the bed after 75k mi/14 months and he was on the spot with a full replacement at no charge :hail
I up graded to the CON-OFE at that time and it has proven to take the abuse I give it :sly :thumbs

Plan on spending about $850....about on par with the rest and for that you get an entire kit....single mass f/w, new f/w bolts/ friction disc and press plate w/new bolts/ align tool/new Throw out brg and kevlar pilot shaft brg.

You left leg will not believe the ease of this unit :thumbs
