My boots were leaking so I took them off to clean them and found a moderate amount of standing oil in the boots. I say moderate, but I really have no idea what is normal for the trucks. The reason I post this is because I wanted to do the mod that eliminates the PCV going into the intake tube, but I am not too happy with rerouting the PCV to the back of the engine bay, on the header, etc. I don't want the underside of my truck coated in oil.
So two questions, would a catch can work in this scenario much like in a gas motor?
And is ok to see a little bit of standing oil in the ic boots?

Some people have had problems with catch cans causing positive crankcase pressure. Not good! Gone back to atmosphere venting and problems go away. You can always run it to the back of the vehicle, mine drops down just above the rear-end housing.

Here's what my hoses looked like.

for the record- doing the ccv to exhaust mod is effectively making it exhaust to the free air and is against the polution control regulations.

you could instead, install a proper CCV filter from MANN, Donaldson, etc. which are DESIGNED to filter out the oil. they have proper breathers and pressure valves. they are about $150 or so.

the donaldson has CARB certs too.

I am beginning to like the idea of running it under the truck, unless someone can tell me if there is any threat of the exhaust backflowing into the intake. I installed something similar to this on my racecar and had to have a check valve.

The CCV should not be put into the exhaust before the muffler with a stock exhaust. MY OPINION- Bryan
