I am getting a 96 F-350 with a 7.3 in a few weeks. I'm trying to learn as much as I can about them. I'm so excited to have a good tow rig. Right now I have a 97 F-350 with a 460. It does ok, but I hate being passed by the diesels on the highway and having others wait on the slow gas powered guy, not to mention my loaded 8mpg compared to 18mpg.

Anyway, my question is regarding mods. I've read that a chip or tuner should be my first mod. Which chip should I get? What are the pros and cons of each? Any first hand reccomendations? Also it may need to have the injectors rebuilt. If so should I upgrade them?

I like my DP tuned chip, Jody is a great guy to deal with. TS also has some good programs. Puredieselpower.com has TS chips. As for the injectors, call Bean and BDP. BDP has amazing injectors and top notch service to match.

As for the Chip. Twildman tunes.

He can do pretty much whatever you want, however you want it. And he will take care of you in the customer service area if that comes up.

If the truck is bone stock, you may want to get a new exhaust or atleast a new 3-4" downpipe to replace that nasty stock one. Also, a air intake should be on yer list, the TYMAR is the best value on the market.

Then from there you will probably need guages to accompany the chip you will most likely be getting.

Feel free to ask up, someone on here is bound to know most any question bout these trucks you will have:sweet

You mean intake manifold or air cleaner box?
